The trek starts from Thakurwadi. It is a village in the Rajgad district of Maharashtra. 

Firstly, the trek is divided into three parts:

  1. The first stretch is ascending from the Start Point to Prabalmachi Plateau
  2. Second section is from Prabalmachi to the Col
  3. The third section is the the final climb from the Col to the pinnacle of Kalavantin

Best Time to Visit the Kalavantin Durg Trek

Reaching Kalavantin Durg Trek By Your Vehicle from Mumbai

Kalavantin Durg Trek is a famous trek which is just about 50 km from Mumbai. The trek starts from Thakurwadi. This is your village’s base or the initial point. 

If you do not have access to Google maps, here is how to reach Mumbai: You can head to Panvel from Mumbai. From Panvel you can go to the Mumbai-Pune highway and continue the journey on the Panvel Road for about some kilometres. 

From here you take the Shedung-Vardoli road and then move to Vardoli-Thakurwadi. Doing this you can reach your base or the start point of the Kalavantin Trek. From the main highway, you need to drive for another 6 km.

Final Thoughts:

The beauty of this trek is the fantastic rock-cut steps that have a zig-zag way up to the mountain. This will take you to the top of the fort. You can get a magnificent view from the top. Last but not the least you get to experience a thrilling climb through the stairs.
