This trek begins at the Narkanda Dehar village in Uttarakhand, India. It is a short, approximately 9 km trek that ascends to an altitude of 6300 feet (1850 meters) and descends back down again to a height of 4500 feet (1300 meters). The first half is entirely along forested trails, the second half is through open fields and gradually higher up the mountain.

Narkanda Dehar is home to the indigenous Dehar tribe, who had a Stone Age culture. The original villages were located further up on a plateau, but inhabitants from other villages migrated here to found the more modern dwellings in this area.

While trekking through this region you will encounter the indigenous Dehar tribe of the Uttarakhand state in India. These people live in the wild and have evolved their own tribal way of life and customs that still remain. The Dehar tribe are hunter-gatherers and make their living by hunting animals like deer and boar that inhabit the area. They are simple people who do not have much contact with the outside world.

The trek takes you through the region of Churdhar, one of many mountain ranges in the Himalayas. The trekking season in this part of India runs from April to October, with June and July being most favorable for trekking due to better weather conditions.
